Schramm Farms & Orchards is a 400-acre Fruit and Vegetable Farm located
in Penn Township, Pa. The farm market is open year round and always has
a fresh supply of high-quality homegrown produce. We look forward to
seeing you soon!
Schramm's is a family farm that has been growing and selling fresh
fruits and vegetables in the Pittsburgh area since 1864. The farm was
originally located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, where Ross Park
Mall now stands on McKnight road. John Schramm purchased that farm
shortly after immigrating from Bavaria, Germany. Three generations
farmed that land, selling the fresh produce mainly at farmer's markets
in Pittsburgh. In 1954, the first Schramm's farm market was built
allowing Schramm's to sell their produce to neighbors and local
customers.
Due to over-development of the area, third-generation farmer Eugene H.
Schramm Sr. and family decided to sell the North Hills property and
re-locate the farm to a more desirable location in 1981. Eugene, his
wife Kathy; brother Bob, and sons Hilary, John, and Ralph started again
at Schramm's current location in Harrison City, PA. Eugene's daughter
Kathy also moved to the area to start Grandma's Country Oven Bake
Shoppe.

New to the area, and still establishing the farm, produce was first sold
out of the old milk house attached to the barn as well as at the night
markets in Pittsburgh. The new farm market was first built in 1981, and
expanded to its current size in 1991.
