Throughout the U.S. about 100 varieties of apples are grown commercially; Schramm's grows 15 varieties of apples best suited to the Pennsylvania climate and customer preferences. Some varieties such as Golden & Red Delicious, Cortland, Stayman & MacIntosh have been around since the Orchard began; while Gala, Fuji, and Gingergold are a few of the newest varieties.
There are many options for purchasing Schramm's apples. We sell apples by-the-pound, and offer reduced pricing for larger quantities including: peck (8 quarts), half-bushel, and bushel. Additionally we sell many 'seconds' apples for $5.00 a 1/2 bushel. These apples have slight marks or bruising, but are great for baking or making apple sauce.
Apples store well with appropriate cooling temperatures, so we are able to continue to sell many varieties of homegrown apples throughout the winter and spring. Also, we send a portion of the apple harvest to a cider press and then offer Schramm's Apple Cider by the gallon and half-gallon in the market throughout the fall and winter season.
